Introduction: Heather Westwood

Hey,
I'm Heather, I am studying Bachelor of Primary Middle Teaching, with specialization in PE and Math. I play and coach district Basketball for West Adelaide Bearcats and really love the people in my team. I work at Adelaide High School as a student support officer and am studying part time.
As for reading, I'm not really a fan of reading much more than picture books, but I accept the challenge and hopefully by the end of this year have found a new passion for novels.
Did not know what picture to post but to keep with the trend thought I would add a picture of our group.
Cheers, Heather

Old Before My Time by Hayley Okines.

Hi everyone, Emma here!
I have recently read an autobiography about a girl named Hayley Okines and her family as she battles with a premature aging disease known as Progeria. This girl although she faces many despairs such as low life expectancy, and being a 13 year old girl trapped in the body of a 100+ year old lady, she is still a ray of sunshine. The book is structured in chapters where Hayley and her mother take turns in describing a part of their lives in each chapter. This book is an excellent resource for those who are interested in rare diseases and about how people with terminal illnesses go about their daily lives. Therefore it would be suitable for students who are of about 13-18 years of age who display interests in autobiographies, life experiences, rare diseases and an emotional heart. This little girl will tug at your heart strings with her determination, giving hope to all those suffering from terminal illnesses as she continues her life past her life expectancy.
I know she has made an impact on my view of life, I hope she will influence yours in a similar way

Introduction: Emma Windebank

Hello!

My name is Emma Windebank and I am currently in my second year of a Bachelor of Education (Primary/Middle). I have a passion for Science and Visual Art and love to be creative.
As far as reading goes, I love imaginative stories and plots that really capture and maintain my attention. I love action and being entertained, if I'm not captured in the first 30 pages, you have lost my attention. I find autobiographies and biographies very interesting, and like to research the person that the book is about thoroughly.
My interests outside of study are watching movies (as it is a quicker way of reading books), painting, op shopping and I have an obsession over nail art.
I hope that this blog will broaden my genre interests and allow everyone else to take interest in what I take interest in.

Introduction: Alex Compton

Hi folks!

My name is Alex Compton and I'm at the end of my second year of LBPM. Im a mature aged student in my thirties and am grateful for the opportunity to be able to study again. I'm part time at the moment, but have completed a year and a half of full time before switching to part time.

My general study subjects are Home Economics and Health, which I am passionate about. I also have a background in music and pursued this as a vocation after school, before doing food and hospitality related courses.

As for books, I have never really thought of myself as a reader and haven't tended to read too many books since I left school.
At school I did enjoy the set novels for English such as "The Grapes of Wrath" and "Of Mice and Men". I did get into some "Choose Your Own Adventure" books in younger years.

I guess nowadays I would pick up a book if it really took my interest. I have tended to read Christian living books as well as autobiographies and find psychology interesting.

I am looking forward to discovering the new worlds open up as I read for the personal reading program. Maybe a reader is emerging after all!

Introduction: Kirsty Karapas

Hi everyone! My name is Kirsty Karapas, I am 19 years of age and am currently in my second year of the Primary/Middle Education program. My specialist areas are in Visual Art and Home Economics because I absolutely love painting, drawing, etc. as well as baking and cooking in general. I enjoy reading and I have read many different books over the years, my favourite being the Harry Potter series. After having my Mum read the first book to me when I was seven, I became completely mesmerised by the story and the ideas put forth by J.K. Rowling. I have a Tumblr blog so I am familiar with the codes and conventions of blogging, however my blog is mainly aesthetic so I will be adding many pictures to this blog to make it look pretty.

P.S. Here is a picture of one of my scrumptious creations.
