Hi everyone, Emma here!
I have recently read an autobiography about
a girl named Hayley Okines and her family as she battles with a premature aging
disease known as Progeria. This girl although she faces many despairs such as
low life expectancy, and being a 13 year old girl trapped in the body of a 100+
year old lady, she is still a ray of sunshine. The book is structured in
chapters where Hayley and her mother take turns in describing a part of their
lives in each chapter. This book is an excellent resource for those who are interested
in rare diseases and about how people with terminal illnesses go about their
daily lives. Therefore it would be suitable for students who are of about 13-18
years of age who display interests in autobiographies, life experiences, rare
diseases and an emotional heart. This little girl will tug at your heart
strings with her determination, giving hope to all those suffering from
terminal illnesses as she continues her life past her life expectancy.
I know she has made an impact on my view of
life, I hope she will influence yours in a similar way
