For my Author Study I did Emily Rodd and chose to read The Charm Bracelet. The Flower Fairies is the second book in The Fairy Realm series. The whole series has a strong fantasy theme, which allows the reader to get lost in the book and create this imaginary world, where the characters come to life.
I absolutely love reading Emily Rodd books, as I found that they are very easy to read. This book only had nintey pages, which is a good size for children. I found that the sentences, chapters and the book are very short altogether. However I believe that Rodd has done this on purpose, as young children do not have a very good attention span. Therefore with the use of her short sentences and chapters, the child may not feel like they have been reading a lot, when they actually have been.
I think that this book would be a very good book to use as a reading group, as children are able to easily understand and read indenpendently. My only concern with this book, is that I can imagine that girls would love this book, however boys on the other hand may think differently, as there are fairies and elves, ect, located in this novel, and they may feel that they are too cool for this book.
