I thought I'd look at this book again as primary school children will enjoy the story.
This is a story about a boy 'Luke' who moves to live with his Grandmother and while training his pet mice discovers a group of women who his grandmother always warned him about... The Witches.
The Grand High Witch reveals her plan to destroy all children and Luke's friend 'Bruno' gets in to danger. Luke and his grandmother try to stop the Witches from their evil plan by poisoning them.

Its is a well written entertaining story that would be good for upper primary students to read. The occasional illustration by Quentin Blake allow the character descriptions to really come alive.
